DAY 2: THE DOCTOR

March 11, 2022 ~ Friday

The day after arrival, I had my intake visit with Dr. Anthony Streutker, MD (pronounced struck-er). He spent a lot of time getting my medical history, almost 2 hours! He is trying to get to know me and my health issues to see how he might help me. So, he ordered more blood tests besides the ones I brought with me. Looked at all the prescriptions and supplements that I take and stopped all but 7 of them. The visit ended with a medical examine and the recording of my weight and height. Weight: 213 pounds. Height: 5 feet and 6.5 inches tall.

Dr. Streutker is full of energy and you can tell he loves the work that he does. He actually gets to make people well! His goal is to get me off of ALL medications, even supplements, and lower my blood pressure and blood glucose to normal levels. Fasting is the tool he uses to do this and weight loss is what makes the difference. Still my goal is not to lose weight but to gain health!

Just to show how cool this doctor is, he gave me his cell phone number so I could text questions to him! How many doctors do you know who would do that?

I am checked twice a day by a nurse and a doctor. All the nurses and doctors at TN take turns doing rounds. They record weight, BP, glucose, and pulse. The docs ask questions like: What is your energy level? Are you light headed? Any bowl movements? Are you urinating ok, with no pain? What is your pain level? This information becomes part of the entire picture to tell them where you are in the fasting process. This information is reported back to Dr. Streutker who determines the next steps in my care. He even PRESCRIBED a bowl of berries which is delivered to my room twice a day. I have never had blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries as sweet as these!

For the rest of the day, Danielle and I rested. And I needed time to digest all the information thrown at me on the first two days.
