DAY 13: AFFECTS OF FASTING

Fasting Update: Day 8 of fasting. I am tired. I move carefully so as not to fall over. Still not dizzy or lightheaded. I can’t walk 75 feet without stopping. My lips are getting a film on them which I keep rubbing off. Then apply lip balm. They are not chapped!

I am now having some itching on the sides of my back. And the water now does not taste good. This is because I am detoxing. The water has not changed. I have. I can comfortably cross my legs and I have found my shin bones!

I do still brush my teeth and floss. I do not need to do that every day but once in a while is needs to be done. I go by buildup on the teeth. It takes energy to brush them. I also have a film in my mouth. Water water washes it a way, for a while. It is like thick saliva. Again, detox. One of the main reason I did this.

I am not depressed or sad, just tired. Oddly, I am not homesick. I came here to do a job and do it I will. I do miss Wayne, the bassets, my kids, my family, my friends but I have put me first this time. Please, if you can, check in on Wayne. I do take a look at my homeward travel plans from time to time and am trying to burn into my mind the steps of that plan. Uber, bus, airport (as that is where the bus drops you off), then shuttle to hotel, night at hotel, shuttle back to airport, 2 planes and a car ride home. Just the flights home will take 10 hours. Yes, I am taking two days to get home. I do not have Dani with me this time around. Doing this “planning” keeps me homeward looking while I get this done.

Daily fasting numbers: Weight-193.5 Weight loss since adopting diet-41.5 BP-137/82 Heart rate-81 Oxygen level-97 Temperature-97.5 Glucose-78 ….. I have only been posting the morning numbers but in the afternoons my BP is lower.

Cooking Demo: I managed to walk to the demo and was falling asleep during it. I have a suite mate I was sitting next to. She touched me and asked if I was ok! I made it thru. The cooking classes are what will help me get over the hump with this new diet. Especially the ones with Chef Ramses Bravo, the TrueNorth chef. But this demo was by Cathy Fisher. She put out the cookbook called Straight up Food, cooking you can live with. I have her cookbook back home and there is a carrot cake recipe in there I want to try. In her demo she made Fruity Baked Oatmeal, Oatmeal-lemon Pancakes, and to go with the the pancakes was Strawberry-Date syrup. They smelled amazing. Alas, I could not stay and tasted them. I will be trying those pancakes when I get home!

Reflexology: Chantel Lucier, license to do reflexology. I would not have bothered to try this alternative treatment except I am here fasting. I am glad I did. What a wonderful foot massage. She comes to your room and you lie on the bed. When she is done, she quietly leaves. I did fall a sleep but without my CPAP my snoring work me up. Talk about room service! Now mind you she is not doing a foot massage, she is following the nerves to help them active other things in the body. I do not care why she does what she does. I think I will have her come back!

I spent the rest of the day lying on the bed reading or watching movies. Not much else to do when you are on ordered complete rest.
