DAY 15: MY TONGUE IS WHITE!

Fasting Update: Day 10 of a water fast. In your day to day life you think about your body in a feeding state and you do not even realize it. I have had to shift my thinking about my body in a fasted state. Like rest, I need lots of it. Not sleep but just sitting or lying around. Literally doing NOTHING. Reading or watching videos are ok but moving my body, no. A short walk about the court yard, maybe. There are other changes that are not “normal” in a feeding state that are very normal in a fasting state. If you had some of these in a feeding state, you need a doctor.

AGH, I have a white tongue. I thought surely I won’t get a white tongue. Think again. The normal action of eating food actually help slough off the older cells on the tongue thus keeping it pink. Since I am not eating, well, white tongue. Oddly enough, you can’t brush it all away either. The tongue is an exit point for toxins. NOW I need to brush my teeth and tongue more, without toothpaste. I am stuck with this until the fast is over.

Brain. I have no issues with my brain but is uses a lot of energy no matter what I am doing. They tell you here that a complete state of rest includes the brain as it uses a lot of glucose and if the body does have enough glycogenesis happens to supply it. I am trying to do some work for Lariat while I am here. So, is all that thinking causing my body to work harder to support the brain? I think the science is not there yet to answer my questions. So I go by how I feel. I do get little headaches when I do too much. Again, the fasted state is different than the feeding state.

Heart Murmur: Before I ever started fasting Dr. Streutker found a little heart murmur. If my drs at home found one they never made anything of it. I am not surprised as my mom lived her whole life with a heart murmur and that is not what killed her. However, the fasted state is different. The rounding doctors always do a one minute heart rate on me. They count the beats in one minute and how strong it was and if there were any skips. Well, today, there was a skip. Just one during that minute. They know that these irregularities are associated with fasting as the whole system is stressed. (Hence why I am here to do this type of fasting. Thank you mom, she made it financially possible.) This is not a reason to stop the fast. If there were 5-8 in a minute I would get an EKG.

Liver and CPK: These numbers are coming. I am just waiting for the 3rd set of blood tests to return to explain them.

My Comments: I am going at this with a vengeance and intensity as I do most other things in my life. I am not a half way kind of person. I took the immersion point of view when I started back just after my birthday, October 30, 2021. I have watched hundred’s of hours of YouTube videos on this topic. I have bought the TrueNorth’s book called The Pleasure Trap about why you are driven to eat. One should read that book. I have Chef Bravo’s cookbooks. I lost 25 pounds eating what I wanted of the diet without measuring anything. I look at fasting as my baptism into this new lifestyle.

friend asked if I had seen my “spirit guide”? Do I get bored? How are my muscles doing? Do I have difficulty concentrating/thinking? No spirit guide. I think I need drugs for that. Some Christians feel that fasting is to open your mind to God. I do not hold that as it also opens the mind to Satan who can come as an angel of light. I am not denying a spiritual aspect to fasting. I am just not here for that reason. No I am not bored. I am not a person to get bored. That is why my luggage was heavy. Light on clothes heavy on books, electronics, and a crocheting project: a pineapple doily pattern. My muscles do hurt from time to time but not because of fasting, although fasting can cause muscle pain. My muscles have always hurt and my CPK’s are elevated. Dr Streutker is curious as to why? Are we dealing with an yet unknown autoimmune issue? No worries, fasting can take care of that too. Oddly enough, I do not have concentration or thinking issues. The mind is clear but tires easily.

Lecture: The lecture today was about optimizing brain function but not what I expected it to be. It was about what to eat and how much of it to eat to improve brain function. I have read all this info in books before and listened only enough to get the gist of it. Dr. Goldhamer was once asked how may cups of vegetables to eat and he said I eat all I want and do not measure. Then he reluctantly said 5-6 cups of vegetable. I want to do what he does. The idea of never having to weight or measure the food you eat is very appealing. So how is that done? You eat calorically low density food until you are full. This consists of greens, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and small amounts of nuts, seeds, and avocado. For example, eating a pound of broccoli at 120 calories or a pound of oil at 4000 calories. You can see that broccoli is the better option. You could even eat 2 pounds at not detriment to the waistline. See the difference? You can eat WAY MORE food volume wise if you cut out caloric dense foods. What are those? Oil, sugar, procced foods, and meat and dairy. I opt for eating a volume of food and that is what he does.
