DAY 22: BROTH DAY 2

March 31, 2022 ~ Thursday

Fasting Update: Day 17 of 28. I feel SO MUCH better today. 6 hrs of good uninterrupted sleep. More steady on my feet. Muscle pain is at a one. My mind feels clearer. I am still weak and must rest between answering email and working on a puzzle. Yes, I am that tired and piecing a puzzle together tires me out. Remember, I said the broth will not throw me out of ketoses because it is so low in calories it does not matter? Well, the broth particulary the celery in it is high in sodium. Since, they are trying to restore my electrolytes that is probably intentional but NO added salt is needed. And that sodium retained the water I drank yesterday to the tune of 5 pounds! So, I now see how much sodium can affect not only my heal but my weight. Fascinating.

See the comments section below for a funny story, at least to me it is funny.

Daily fasting numbers: Weight-190.4 Weight lost during fast-15.6 Weight loss since adopting diet-44.6 BP-131/84 Heart rate-74 Oxygen level-97 Temperature-98.3 Glucose-114 Sleep-6hrs 11 min one minute pulse rate-81 and steady Muscle pain level-1 (scale 1-10) Energy level-4 (scale 1-10).

My Comments: During Dr. Goldhamer’s lecture last Monday he was asked why fasting patients do not sleep much. He said how can you sleep? Your brain thinks it is starving. No food is coming in and it is freaking out. Why would it let you sleep? He said all of this with a smile. It tells him the fasting process is doing exactly what is it supposed to be doing and the brain does not like it. Too bad. Now my electrolytes were falling dangerously low and the brain decided to up its game. Armed with that piece of info From Goldhamer I understand the dream I had on two nights later. Sorry no spirit animal, yet, but the brain used images that it thought would prod me into eat something. So here is how the dream went.

I was driving a car and came to a 4-way stop. I stopped and was sleepy. My eyes were closed and I could NOT get them to open. I tried prying them open. Nope they were just not going to open. Cars were piling up behind me. So I said I will get out and motion them around me. Now, I am standing and the cars were gone, the scene had changed and Paul, my brother in-law, was standing there. He is the Fire Chief and an EMT in town. I looked at him and said ‘where am I’. He, in Paul like fashion, took a big sigh, his shoulders slumped, his head bent down and said, “I will go get my bag” (his EMT bag).

That was my brain talking TO ME telling me that if I did not do something, I would need the skills of EMT Paul. Luckily, I have TrueNorth and Dr, Streutker looking out for me. The next day I started the broth. Dr. Streutker knew this was happening and took care of it.

This is what my vegetable broth looks like. It is NOT like the stuff you buy at the grocery store is it?
It is made from scratch here in the TrueNorth kitchen by Chef Bravo.
