My Comments: It is Saturday and so not much going on at the center. Someone asked me a while back was I homesick. No I was not, not back then. Well, I am getting homesick now. Or maybe it is just that I am tired. Once I start refeeding on Tuesday, I should perk up a bit!! I am still glad I did this. I have learned just how much salt plays into my high blood pressure. I think that if I have salt there will be an immediate affect on the pressures and would have to retrench immediately. So yes I need to keep an eye on the oil and sugar, but we all know what they are and where they are in our food. Salt can hide. For now, I will be bringing my own food to events. That is the only way I can control this.
Cooking: Today in the cooking demo, Kathy Fisher, made French fries, roasted potatoes, ketchup, and ranch dressing. One of my favorite foods and it was hard to sit through that as I could not taste them. I have made these at home. However, just being handed a recipe is not always enough. You actually need to watch the person make the dish. Cooks often have nuances that just do not get written down. Even with my own recipes that I hand off to the girls. When it does not turn out the same they go ok we have to watch you make this. When they do that, ta-da, they can replicate the dish. I need to especially do this with my Thanksgiving stuffing. Apparently, I have so altered the written recipe that what I make is nothing like the recipe. So I need to create a new recipe for them. Still, I can’t eat it anymore but for the kids I will update the recipe.
The roses in the courtyard have started to bloom. At least I have plants around me.
