DAY 21: BROTH DAY 1

March 30, 2022 ~ Wednesday

Fasting Update: Day 16 of 28. My potassium has fallen to 3.0. So I am on vegetable broth for a few days or until it comes back up. This will not break ketosis. It will not stop autophagy. The broth is extremely low in calories but has the potassium I need. This is NOT failure. I am still fasting. This is exactly why I am paying a lot of money to stay at TrueNorth. They are not about to let me die! Trouble is, if the potassium does not go back up it is the end of the water fasting. I will then move to a juice fast. Still, so far so good. I do feel better this evening, so, I expect things will work out. I have another blood test on Friday to see where the potassium is. If it has gone back up, I will go back to water. But let’s do the math. Friday will be day 18, the day of the test. Then a couple of days for the results. That puts me at day 19. I only have 9 more days to go! It is the intention of the doctor to keep me on the fast until day 28. So, I may make it yet!

My muscle pain is way better too but BEFORE I had any broth. But then, in the past when my muscle pain is worse, I rest for two days. They calm down and then very little pain. Well, the doctor told me this morning I have to rest, not only physically but my brain also needs to rest. So I will not be working for Lariat the rest of the week. It just takes too much thinking to do computer work. If fasting is helping we will know by the numbers. CK (muscle break down) is down from 397 to 276! So that is good.

I bet that I will have to do a 28 day fast again.

Lecture: Today’s lecture was on the Microbiome. I did not realize just how important it actually is. I mean really important. I knew that what you ate affected what microbes lived in the gut. So it is a whole microscopic world I need to take care. It is rather easy to do. Eat the right kind of food to feed the microbes. They eat fiber. Guess what has all the fiber? Fruits and vegetables. I am heading in the right direction.
