DAY 24: BROTH DAY 4

April 2, 2022 ~ Saturday

Fasting Update: Day 19 of 28. My potassium has risen from 3.0 to 3.1 which is the right direction! So, I will stay on broth for a few more days and then we will retest. Still, I do not have that many more days to go! Trust me, this fast ENDS on day 28!! I am still in ketosis and autophagy, which was my goal for the extended fast. I want my body to “eat” itself and clean up all the damage from years of a really bad diet. That is what autophagy means: “self-eating”. Our bodies do this everyday while we are asleep but during a fast longer than 17 hours, autophagy kicks into over drive. This alone will make me feel better in days to come. At least I am counting on it! I have a garden to plant.

I did not realize just how sick my body was. I am still losing weight and my liver numbers are getting better. I will continue to heal when I get home. That is where the lifestyle change comes in and it is crucial that I stick to it. This is not just a change in the food I eat but how I think and how I will try to live when I get home. Stress will need to be kept to a minimum. I will need to remove what I can and deal with the rest. Life is stressful. Still, if I can avoid coming back and doing this again, I will be delighted.

My one minute pulse rate is steady at 63 beats per minute. I have not had a pulse rate that low in years. This is a GOOD thing. I did quite a bit of sleep last night and forgot to wear my CPAP the first half of the night. I did not miss it but once awakened to go to the bathroom I wore it to get back to sleep. One day, I will no longer need it!

If you should ever do anything like this, here is a tip: every time your stomach says I am hungry, drink 5 swallows of water. It will stop that feeling for a while. I imagine that will work even in the feeding state too.

Daily fasting numbers: Weight-184.6 Weight lost during fast-21.4 Weight loss since adopting diet-50.4 BP-118/80 Heart rate-73 Oxygen level-97 Temperature-97.5 Glucose-85 Sleep-6.3hrs. One minute pulse rate-steady and 63. Muscle pain level-1 (scale 1-10) Energy level-6 (scale 1-10).

My Comments: Today is Saturday, a slow day at TrueNorth. My vitals are still taken twice a day and I see the rounding doctor twice a day. I know everyone is worried about me. Not to fear, I am well looked after. Remember TrueNorth has been doing this for 40+ years, fasted over 22,000 people, and they have seen it all during fasting. Their protocol has proven effective in protecting patients while they do this.
