DAY 6: WATER ONLY
March 15, 2022 ~ Tuesday
Going forward I will start each blog with a fasting update and then talk about some feature of the TN Center that helps me with my goals. If you can’t come here you will at least know a bit about what it is like.
Fasting update: Well the time has come. I am on water only. How long will this go? We do not know but the plan is for as long as it takes up to 40 days. Right now the reservation will cover about a 28 day fast with 13 days refeed time. If rooms are not available to extend the fast then, max 28 days it is.
My concern is my blood pressure. I do not think it will come down and stay down after I refeed if I do not lose enough weight. This might also be an issue with the glucose as well. I need to lose enough weight to stay off of the medications. And we do not know what that number is. At the moment, a 21 days fast would put me at 170 lbs. A 28 day fast 155 provided the rate of loss stays constant, which is an average of 2 lbs. a day.
The doctor decides these things but I want this done and over with. I can manage the rest from home, which means follow a whole plant food diet with no added salt, oil, or sugar. No animal products, no dairy, and no processed foods. For the next 50 years. After than I am allowed to cheat.
One will gain some weight once they start to refeed but the weight will balance out and then losing weight will start again. During fasting the visceral fat is preferentially chosen as the fat to lose first. IF after the refeed, you are eating a whole plant based diet, until satisfied, you will continue to lose weight because the food’s caloric density is lower than all the foods you are not supposed to eat. A pound of steam broccoli is 121 calories and a pound of oil is 4000 calories. A teaspoon of olive oil has 40 calories. It is not unreasonable for someone to put a tablespoon of oil or butter on that broccoli which then makes a pound of broccoli w/oil 242 calories. Do that with every item of food you eat and hello to dietary excess, weight gain, and illness.
With this way of eating, you can eat all you want and NO counting of calories or measuring of food. That is because the caloric density of all the foods you eat are low. If you want the salt, oil and sugar, then you need to count and measure.
AND the REALLY cool thing about this process after fasting and refeeding is that you will gain muscle mass and continue to lose visceral fat! Why? How do we know that? True North has studied this and bought a DECA scanner to prove it. Yes, a whole plant based diet depletes fat deposits and builds muscle.
I will get to exercise which is a key component of getting back to health. I will get to that blog …….
