DAY 28: TIRED BUT NOT MISERABLE

April 6, 2022 ~ Wednesday

Fasting Update: Day 23 of 28. Getting close! Back to water. I am again not sleeping well as most fasting patients do not sleep well. I am tired but not like before when I was tired AND miserable. My vitals are spot on and clinically I feel ok. Just tired.

Daily fasting numbers: Weight-182.1 Weight lost during fast-23.9 Weight loss since adopting diet-52.9 BP-116/80 Heart rate-69 Oxygen level-98 Temperature-97.5 Glucose-78 Sleep 4.5 hrs. One minute pulse rate-very steady and strong. Muscle pain level-1 (scale 1-10) Energy level-7 (scale 1-10).

My Comments: I brought an old book with me written by one of my favorite OLD authors E.P. Roe, a minster. It was published in 1886 called Success with Small Fruits. I am finding that his thoughts on food and the growing of it to line up with the lifestyle change I am making. It is amazing how close together we are in our thoughts, even though he is long dead. Chapter 1 is titled “Preliminary Parley”. He is putting it out there, his opinion on the topic of why we should care about growing small fruits. He is pretty compelling. He starts with the the alchemists who wanted to turn iron into gold. When, really it is quiet easy to turn black dirt into red rubies. I know. I have done it.

”To turn iron into gold would be a prosaic, barren process that might result in trouble to all concerned, but to transform heavy black earth and insipid rain-water into edible rubies, with celestial perfume and ambrosial flavor, is indeed an art that appeals to the entire race, and enlists that imperious nether organ which has never lost is power over heart or brain. As long, therefore, as humanity’s mouth waters at the thought of morsels more delicious even that “sin under the tongue,” I am sure of an audience when I discourse of strawberries and their kindred fruits. If apples led to the loss of Paradise, the reader will find described hereafter a list of fruits that will enable him to reconstruct a bit of Eden.”

Yes, this minister was talking about the sex organs or the nether organs that control the heart and the brain.

When I am done with this process, I will have reset my palate. I will find whole plant based foods, like strawberries, are full of more flavor than I thought they had (so they tell me). Sex and food hit the dopamine receptors in the brain and we want more. This is why processed foods are so alluring. They are packed with flavor and will cause you to eat more and gain weight because you are looking for an ever bigger dopamine hit. I will report on how well my new palate reacts to the whole foods I will be served in the coming days.

In addition to a reset of the palate, I have had to throw out the lotions I brought. Oil of Olay now smells and makes my face itch whereas it did not before. So my sense of smell has already changed.

Lecture: I have been here long enough that the lectures repeat themselves. So I did not attend any.
