DAY 48: BITTER-SWEET AND COOKIES
April 26, 2022 – Tuesday
Today is a bitter-sweet day. I want to leave and go home to begin the new life I have gained. And even though the fast was miserable, I know the good that it did. And I am glad I did this. I cannot begin to tell you the changes within my body that have taken place and are still talking place. Everyday is a new surprise as I will be recovering from the fast for the next month.
However, there is a down side – it is also hard to leave – to leave new friends. To leave a place where rest and peace reign supreme. Where both male and female share the same experiences. I have gained male friends as well as female friends. I have started an email list for us to communicate with. We all share the same concerns. Can we keep this up when we get home? We will endeavor to help each other through email and soon through a message board that I will create it when I get home.
I said all my good byes. Had hugs all around. The Chef handed me three meals and I was off. The Center always packs up 3 meals for those that leave so they have something to eat on the trip home. The Center also has a driver who drives people to the airport. And today, I got in Jim’s car and off to the Hilton San Francisco Airport Hotel we went. I will be flying out tomorrow as I broke my journey home into two parts.
Once at the desk of the hotel, I asked them to bring a fridge to my room as I needed to keep my “prescription” food cold, which they promptly delivered and plugged in. Then I went to put the food away and in the freezer section there was an unopened package of thin mint cookies. I am laughing. I came from a place where there was clean food to a package of cookies. So, I dutifully ate my salad that the chef gave me. Took the cookies to the front desk and then off to walk along the shore of San Francisco Bay. The wind was blowing eastward and the smell of the sea and the crash of the waves was calming.
LOL. Of all things, a hidden package of cookies. Who knows how old they were or who left them there and I would have never eaten them under any circumstance ….. but it was funny.
These are pictures of my room and my walk.
