DAY 49: TWO FLIGHTS
April 26, 2022 ~ Wednesday
This was a busy day.
Up early to finish packing. Getting the food squared away. Making sure the two suit cases were both under 50 pounds. Getting all my electronics into my backpack. And down to the airport shuttle by 8:30 am. Arrive at the airport, check a bag, and go through security. I now have TSA pre-check so at least the line is shorter. On my way out to California they still searched my backpack as all the electronics do not x-ray well. This time they searched the carry on and ignored the backpack. The carry on had food and ice packs in it.
The first flight was from San Francisco, CA to Newark, NJ. The longest of the two. I was in the 3rd boarding party and they were saying that carry on luggage space was limited and that people would have to check those bags. Mine contained “medically prescribed food” and my CPAP. I can’t have that checked. So …. I used some self-care learned at TrueNorth and went up to the counter to explain what was in my carry on. The head ‘manager’ person was brought over and he said no problem you can board now. So I got to board before group 2 had started moving! So that is how I handled that stressor. Also, Danielle and I planned for there to be about 2.5 hours between the two flights so I would have time moving between gates. Good thing we did that. The 1st plane landed and then spent an hour sitting on the tarmac waiting for the gate to be open so they could “park” the plane and we could get off. Still, I had plenty of time to get to the next gate – Newark to Burlington, VT.
This second leg of my journey was delayed by an hour because they did not have a full flight crew yet. The crew ended up being from Dallas, Texas and when they were on the mic telling us where we were going they mic goes dead. Then they come back and Say to Burlington, Vermont. The flight crew did not know where we were going! It was funny.
By this time, I was very tired by this time. I started this journey at 8 am pacific and it was now 10:30 at night eastern time. When we finally got on the plane, that pilot flew that plane very fast. He made it to Burlington in 50 minutes. I have to ask how come the last time I did that flight it took an hour and a half to cover the same distance? Apparently, this is how airplanes can make up time when they run late. I got to the baggage claim and my suite case did finally show up but I had a nice conversation with a well dressed good looking man. He just walked over and started talking. Even though I was tired, I manage to smile and make small talk. I tell you this because then my 50 pound luggage showed up. I walked over and said to myself, ‘I know you are tired but do NOT pick that up and then fall over in front of all these people and that man.’ LOL I managed to lift it off the conveyer belt and get it on its rollers. Then I belted the big case, the carry on, and the backpack together so I could roll them all with ONE handle to the car …..
….. where my husband Wayne was waiting for me in the pick up area. It is now 12-ish Wayne did notice the change in me and was impressed. Trunk is now loaded and we are on the final leg of my journey. He driven my car as it still has studded tires on it with a threat of snow flakes swirling around in the air. Then an hour and 15 minute car ride home where I was greeted by the bassets who went nuts when they realized I did not die but finally came home! In the beginning they looked for me but after a week or so stopped looking. The same way that they did when my mom passed. They used to visit her room every morning where I suspect she fed them chocolate. When she passed they looked for her but eventually stopped doing so. Still, every once in a while they pay a visit to her old room.
Thus the blogging of my fasting experience come to an end but the journey is not over. Friends and family want me to continue blogging. So I will next journal my successes and difficulties in following the ‘protocol’ laid out by TrueNorth for the rest of my life. I think the most interesting part will be in how well I adapt to the shopping, prepping, and cooking of this new protocol!
I do feel better – a LOT better. Actually, I can feel this on a cellular level and I feel 10 years younger. I can do more today and not pay dearly for it tomorrow. So many have told me that I look vibrant, full of energy, and ‘look good’. It is encouraging for me to move forward and be compliant with the plant based SOS diet which, thanks to a new neuro-adapted palate, the food tastes pretty good!
I do have a request of family and friends. One of my mottos is that there is my business, your business and God’s business. So here goes:
- I know what I am doing and what I need to do to live a long healthful life. I am willing to answer any questions you may have about what I have done. I took the direct root right through fasting. It is possible to take the long way around – to do this without doing a water only fast for days on end. I can give you details on how to do that, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW.
- It will look like I am eating a LOT of food but I can assure you that my high volume of food has less calories than the same size plate full of processed foods that are covered in sauce with added salt, oil, and sugar that I used to eat. Please do not be offended if I bring my own food to social events.
- If you see me deviating from my food plan, please do not say anything to me. If I do deviate, trust me, it will be a conscience decision and my body will not let me forget it was a bad decision. My new plant adapted gut biome will not be forgiving. So, I have a plan in place should I deviate. It is called a green juice that must follow the very next meal time.
There is NO SHAME in any of this for me or for you. Each must find their own path in life. This is now mine – whole plant based SOS* free.
*SOS = salt, oil, sugar
